Library Notes

  1. It is not too late to turn in your library materials.
  2. Don't miss the Summer Reading List. Students were given hard copies this week at school, but you can access an annotated list through the library catalog (go to library catalog > resource lists > public lists). You are able to read reviews, longer summaries, and even the first chapter of some books when you click on the icon of a book's cover.
  3. The entire SFDS faculty, staff, and administration will read Time Wise's book "White Like Me" as our summer reading. Everyone is encouraged to join the faculty and read White Like Me this summer. If you would like a copy of the book please contact Renee Otero. The price is $13.95 plus tax.

Calling All Readers
Summer reading isn’t just for students. The Library Party Chairs are looking for parents and faculty members who are interested in dedicating some of their free time this summer to reading and reviewing books for the annual Library Party scheduled for the Fall. We need readers interested in the following categories:

  • Adult Fiction
  • Adult Non-Fiction
  • Early Readers
  • Kids Fiction
  • Kids Non-Fiction
  • Picture books
  • Activity books.

Pick your favorite category, share your ideas, and identify great finds to help us build an amazing selection of books to offer to our community in celebration of our library! We hope to solicit at least two reader/reviewers per category and anticipate that each volunteer will be able to submit recommendations of 3--5 books by early September. Contact Ellen Towell at etowell@comcast.net if you are interested.

Donate Miles for Professional Development
Show your support for professional development by donating your extra miles and/or hotel discounts to teachers who will be attending conferences this summer. Contact Carolyn Sasser for more information.
